The nine realms are in upheaval and the end of the world is quickly approaching. While gods and giants fight, the fate of the world lays in the hands of an unlikely hero.
The Aesir and the Frost Giants are at War. Ragnarok and the end of all that is can be seen coming over the horizon. The fate of humanity and the world is in the hands of these two warring factions, both intent on the destruction of the other at whatever the cost. The Aesir know the prophesy of Ragnarok and are willing to accept their fate if they can also destroy their mortal enemies. But The Frost Giants are led by one of their own. Loki has taken up arms against the Aesir and has his own, mysterious reasons for bringing about the end of the world.
But Freyja does not want the world to come to an end. She seeks the help of a mortal, Aric. He must gather heroes and weapons, weapons only mortals can wield, to tip the scales and end the war before the war ends the world.
Unfortunately, Loki also knows of these weapons and has recruited his own human accomplices. They will meet and fight over the artifacts in times to come but for now they begin at different points in the world. Also, Loki is trying to free his children, Jormungand, the world serpent, and Fenrir, the wolf.
In the end, perhaps the humans will use their weapons to defeat both the Aesir and the Frost Giants and begin to carve out their own destinies. Perhaps that is the day the gods die.
